Eleven rooms are in the guesthouse, all with private bathrooms, available in single, double or triple. Emphasis is placed on quality and personal service. Complimentary internet connection (WiFi) and an outdoor hot tub and sauna to enjoy the midnight sun in the summer or northern lights on winter nights.

Service and recreation

Hosts can provide information about various attractions in the vicinity and available day-tours such as a trip into the highlands on specially modified jeeps. Children are welcome to meet the farm animals at Lambastaðir. The closest town is Selfoss, 8 km (5 mi) away, where restaurants, diners, supermarkets, various tourism services and a good swimming pool can be found. The swimming pool has a water slide, a paddling pool, a play area and hot tubs. A 9-hole golf course is just outside the town. Hestaferðir horse rental is 17 km (10.5 mi) away. At the village Hveragerði (21 km / 13 mi), where greenhouses are a prominent feature, guests can visit the Geothermal Park. Kayak tours at Stokkseyri are 22 km (14 mi) away where the Icelandic Wonders Museum can also be found, there guests can learn about elves, trolls and the northern lights. The Icelandic Saga Centre in village of Hvolsvöllur is 40 km (25 mi) away.

Ocean waves, seaside villages, elves and trolls

Smaller country roads lead off of the Ring Road and down to the southern shore, where ocean waves unleash their heavy power on lava cliffs and black beaches. Two charming villages, Stokkseyri and Eyrarbakki, nest by the open ocean about 22 km (14 mi) from Lambastaðir. The fascinating beach is a great place for a stroll on your way to the Icelandic Wonders Museum, dedicated to the elves and trolls of local folklore. Add a visit to the Heritage Museum at the Merchants House at Eyrarbakki to your walk for a great outing.

 
Famous stops along the Golden Circle

Close to Lambastaðir there is a crossroad with the option of going further inland. There, some of the most famous natural attractions of Iceland are to be found, such as the Geysir geothermal area (62 km / 38.5 mi) and one of Iceland’s most beautiful waterfalls, Gullfoss (65 km / 40 mi). Skálholt, a historical episcopal and one of Iceland’s most distinguished places of learning for over 700 years is also in the vicinity.

 
Spa and Þingvellir National Park

Relax and rejuvenate at the Laugarvatn Fontana Spa and Wellness Centre 49 km (30 mi) away. From there, Þingvellir National Park is only a short drive away (25 km / 15.5 mi) via Lyngheiði moor. Þingvellir, or Parliament Fields, are a unique natural phenomenon and one of the most sacred places in Iceland.
