The farm Heydalur offers other activites; kayak tours, horse rental, trout fishing in nearby mountain lakes, walking trails and bathing in a natural hot spring, ice fishing and snowmobile tours. You could stay there for a week and do different acitivity every day.
Day 1
Morning pick up of guests from Reykjavik, and transfer through stunning landscapes to the West Fjords (Heydalur). Visit historical places enroute; this could include the Settlement Museum at Borgarnes, and a stop at hotsprings and a waterfall at Borgafjordur. Total transfer time is 6-7 hrs, including stops (weather-dependent). Enjoy a dinner at Heydalur and afterwards relax in a hotspring. Possibility of seeing the northern lights if skies are clear.
Day 2
After breakfast enjoy a guided fishing tour; dependent on the weather this will be either be by snowmobile or jeep. The search for the northern lights begins after a 3-course evening meal.
Day 3
Following breakfast, a morning excursion in the beautiful landscape around Heydalur. Afternoon is free time; perhaps take a walk or bathe in the hotpot at Heydalur. After dinner keep an eye out for the magical aurora borealis.
Day 4
Guests have the choice of a trip to Isafjordur or activities at Heydalur.
Day 5
The return transfer to Reykjavik commences after breakfast. Enroute stop for a short while in Holmavik, where guests may visit the Museum of Witchcraft.
