Wonderful introduction to Iceland
Our first real night in Iceland and it was perfect. This is truly an Icelandic farm with a beautiful view - best observed from the hot tub. Our room was spotless and comfortable. Andrea prepared a delicious breakfast and we enjoyed chatting. I am so looking forward to returning to Iceland and staying with Andrea again. We (my daughter and I) thank you for your hospitality!
I am totally sold on the Icelandic farm holidays - it is the perfect way to become immersed in Icelandic culture and enjoy your beautiful country.

 -  Northern Lights Tour in The Westfjords at The Farm Heydalur
Dear Hanna, and all others involved in our booking,
I wanted to thank you for arranging our wonderful holiday in Iceland- it was fantastic. Also, I couldnt find the voucher at the farm Heydalur, so wasn't able to pass it on to the host Stella, but thought I better confirm this with you, and that we stayed there from 6/10/11- 10/10/11. Stella was an amazing hostess, she really looked after us so well and made our stay there memorable. We would highly recommend her farm as a wonderful holiday in every way.  I would not want her to have a problem getting paid because I lost the voucher.

We just finished our vacations as planned. We really loved Iceland and had a great time! We will probably come back at some point.
But I would really like to thank you for helping us with choosing the places to stay. In particular, you told us to stay in Gullfoss instead of going back to Reykjavik and you booked one night in Skultustadir instead of 2 nights in Akureyri. Staying in Gullfoss was great and saved us a lot of traveling time; the overnight in Skultustadir was awesome because it allowed us to visit the many interesting places around Myvatn, and we really didn't need 2 days to see Akureyri! So thank you very much for making those choices!

I'm back in Austria now and it's time to provide some feedback for you, which turns out completely positive :-).
 
I am still deeply impressed by all the unbelievable phenomena of nature, which I encountered along this unforgettable trip around Iceland. The colours on the ground and in the air were so mysterious and exciting, absolutely fantastic, the quietness all around was just relaxing and the vastness was really gorgeous. I had a lot of emotional moments while driving around. It was absolutely impossible not to stop all few minutes, get out of the car somewhere, walk a little or not and just be astonished. My camera had a great deal of work to do during the whole days (and also including the night from Wednesday to Thursday due to the spectacular illumination of the majestic Aurora Borealis) :-)
 
And Sunneva, I have to say "Takk fyrir" especially to You. All the things you arranged worked very well (door-to-door-transfer, car-pick up, farms, etc.). And I liked my stays at all the farm guesthouses, which you had chosen for my trip. However, it is difficult to say which one was best. Every farm guesthouse had its own style and character and all the farmers were helpful, friendly and hospitable. I still remember sitting in the hot tub and listen to Icelandic music at Dalbaer, having this wonderful dinner at Hotel Laki and also Brekkulaekur, the amazing view from my room in Arnanes and also Skutustadir vid Myvatn and this charming atmosphere in Skjaldarvik, etc. And all these stays at the farm guesthouses have been wonderful opportunities for me to get an impression, how Icelandic people live (very positive for me).

Farm 100 - Ensku húsin við Langá by Borgarnes: very warm reception Farm with a lot of atmosphere an history very beautiful place
Farm 125 - Kast guesthouse: New facilities "strange welcome", we had to ask for all the informations best breakfest buffet we found in Island excellent diner.
Farm 383 - Öngulsstaðir: it is the third time we were in Island, and it was the best and friendliest stay ever.

The organization of the trip was very well done. We had a very competent and caring driver. His name is Olufur Bjornson (we called him Ollie because we would have massacred his name if we were to say it in Icelandic). He met us at the airport and handed me all the paperwork. After reviewing the schedule, he helped us sort out our questions and concerns and contacted the office staff to straighten out errors, etc. Throughout the trip, he took us to all the places we wanted to see, drove very carefully, gave us excellent advice on time allocation, taught to say place names in Icelandic properly, and generally took great care of us. He stayed in the same hotel as us while we were outside of Reykjavik, so the group gets to know him well and really appreciates this gentle giant.
 
The bus we had is a 16-passenger vehicle (it would be very tight if all seats were taken). We had enough room for luggage and to spread out. This was nice because we all carried a back pack which needs to be accessed readily and were on the road everyday for long stretches.
 
Accommodation is largely what I hope we'd have -- medium range hotel/farm hotels with clean beds and good meals. However, the farm hotels are especially enjoyable. For example, the Hotel Laki's dinner buffet is totally amazing (whale meat done three ways, salmon lox done three ways, local lamb, etc.); the view from the GH Brunnholl is breathtaking; the dining room at the GH Vogafjos is part of a barn separated only by a picture window from the cattle area (so we get to see feeding, milking and real time cattle farming in action). I am glad we get to experience and appreciate the local differences.
 
The guide books tell us not to expect too much by way of food in Iceland, so we were nicely surprised to sample some very delicious local fares. We all enjoyed the food on offer (that said, some places are much better than others). At lunch, Ollie would take us to places where the famous Icelandic lamb soup is served. This is a meal in itself and at reasonable prices.
 
Last but not least is Iceland itself. It is mind boggling to imagine a country of 300,000 people spread over a land mass of 100,000 sq km made up of rather inhospitable volcanoes. The landscape makes the people, and Icelanders are a strong and independent people. But they are also very friendly and welcoming. With over 2,000 glaciers and numerous volcanoes, the land is moving all the time. Icelanders are probably masters in adjusting to change. The scenery is varied and awesome. While we did not focus the trip on wildlife, we did spot a variety of bird life here. The major ring road is in top shape, but this can be interrupted from time to time by detours caused by ice floes that had destroyed a bridge or deposits of debris of all sizes from a particularly active runoff. We started the trip in rain and high wind in the first day or two but enjoyed good weather thereafter. All in all, it was a great trip even though it was really a cursory look at Iceland. It would be nice to stay longer to take in some hiking and horse riding, and to get to know the locals better.
 
Being the de facto "leader", naturally I was a bit nervous with 8 other fellow travelers looking to me for direction. By delegating commentary duty, three among the group happily took to studying the guide books and, in turn, sharing their findings when we arrived at a particular location. This had worked well. Everyone was happy with the organization of the trip. All the various transfers were smooth. No complaints. Only compliments. Iceland is truly an awesome place to visit.

Good evening,
We are back from our trip in Iceland and we enjoyed our stay over there very much., The landscape is wonderful and the weather was very nice; so we managed to see most of the marvellous waterfalls ,geysers and other beautiful places like the Blue Lagoon. and so on........
The accomodation you chose for us in different farms mainly in the South were very good and we were very pleased to talk with Icelandic people. Thank you very much.
 
We will recommend your association to some friends if they decide to spend holidays in Iceland.

Excellent stay
I just wanted to stay a great thank you for the support of Icelandic Farm Holidays during our recent trip to Iceland where we stayed at 696 - Skálabrekka by Þingvallavatn. The setting idyllic, very relaxing, peaceful and quiet. Our hosts were perfect, checking in on us just the right amount. The facilities were spotless and our cottage was perfect. It was beautiful above the lake, and I hope one day we will be able to return! Please convey our thanks and happiness with our stay to our hosts Tóta and Doddi Sigurjónsson

Just returning from a fantastic drive around Iceland.
I would like to let you know that we have enjoyed all farmhouses very much, especialla the one in Sel, Steig and near Lake Myvatn. They were just wonderful. In Sel, we had a great dinner with fresh salmon. Also the other farmhouses were very nice, and sure enough I will book again through "framholidays" for my next trip, which might already be next year.

Hi,
I'd just like to write a quick note of thanks for the hospitality and welcome my friend and I received at both Hotel Gulfoss and Hotel Hofdabrekka during our 5 day Amazing South trip last week.  The accommodation exceed our expectations (did not expect WiFi or indeed hot tubs at such remote locations!) and the food and service were excellent.
Iceland is breathtaking, and of all the travelling I do it is the one place I'm already desperate to return to and explore further to the north (and a couple of days chill out in Reykjavik).
 
Thanks again and hope to be using your services again next year!

Hi there, just a quick email to let you know that my teenage son and I had a fantastic week in Iceland (12-19 August) - helped by the great weather that week.
 
All four sets of the Icelandic Farm Holidays accommodation (646, 100, 382 & 420) met or exceeded our expectations, particularly in terms of cleanliness and comfort. Our favourite was Ensku husin near Borgarnes (#100), where we had a memorable evening sitting round the long table in the dining room eating a lovely evening meal, drinking beer and chatting with the owner's wife (Anna) and the other guests.
 
I am recommending Iceland and Icelandic Farm Holidays to all my friends and family and I hope to make it back there again to explore the various regions which we didn't manage to get to on this first trip. Thanks for your help in creating such a great holiday.

I just want to thank you a million for the organization, your efficiency and patience.
The customers just came back from your beautiful country and were out of words to describe the unbelievable enjoyment they had every day of their trip.
All accomodations were very good and easy to find ,they just noticed that in 2 cases the cottages were more suitable for families with children as in one room was a double bed and in the other one   bunk beds. But besides that all was absolutely excellent.

I wanted to say thank you for organising the accommodation for me for the recent tour round Iceland that I did.  We had a great time and every place we stayed was different.
 
We had an AMAZING stay at Skaldarvík (view farm) and everything about the place, the food and Dísa and her family was perfect. I will recommend this place to everyone going north. We loved the home cooked food and the care that Dísa has taken to decorate the house, we felt really welcome and very comfortable and we even watched the Northern Lights, not bad for that time in April.
 
Then we went to Eldá at Mývatn (view farm) which was great for us too, and everyone enjoyed the communal space in the kitchen and the great breakfast. We have certainly had great food in Iceland. Our dinner was excellent at Vogafjós and we loved the cowshed, thanks for arranging that for us.
 
Geirland (view farm) was lovely, we had a birthday meal that night and really liked the hotel and the rooms, so all was well for us there.
 
So I hope you have a busy summer. I am busy with plans for tours in 2012 but also want to try out more of your farmhouses especially the open farms when I get a chance. There’s time! I will get round to it.
