Contribution to Earth and Climate
Did you know…?
Since the settlement of Iceland the country has lost over 95% of its original birch woodlands and ca 40% of its vegetation cover, resulting in the largest desert in Europe.
How can we contribute?
Through planting trees and bushes and/or revegetating land, whether directly or indirectly, we can contribute to combating the increase in greenhouse gas emissions and thereby play a part in improving our environment, both in Iceland and globally.
The travellers:
From the year 2008 travellers buying self-drive packages by Icelandic Farm Holidays have opportunity to carbon offsetting the trip. After high season the carbon offsetting paid by our customers will be given to the The Iceland Carbon Fund.
Icelandic Farm holidays and National Car Rental:
For each contribution from travellers, Icelandic Farm Holidays and National Car Rental will give the same amount to a project called Farmers Heal the Land, supervised by Soil Conservation Service of Iceland.
