Hestheimar is a family-owned guesthouse in a scenic location only an hour's drive from Reykjavík and easily accessible only 3 km. from the Ring Road (route 1).  

Facilities include made–up beds in 12 double rooms with private and shared facilities, two cosy cottages (ideal for families) and sleeping bag accommodation for up to 18 people in the barn loft. Cooking and washing facilities, living rooms, two hot tubs and sun decks with panoramic views towards volcanoes Eyjafjallajökull and Hekla, as well as Tindfjallajökull Glacier. All rooms have wireless internet. Restaurant with an emphasis on traditional Icelandic cooking, home-baked bread and cakes.

Guests at Hestheimar can choose from a host of family–friendly activities such as horseback riding, hiking and bicycling. It is also possible for guests to take part in daily farm activities. Hestheimar is well located for viewing the northern lights; guests can view them from the hot tub or the patio with a warm drink in hand. Yoga lessons and massage can be booked on request.

Hestheimar is also a horse farm, making it an ideal choice for those who would like to get to know the Icelandic horse. Horse rental is open all year. Riding lessons are on offer in the riding hall and longer riding tours (1-8 days) are available all summer along beautiful riding paths in the area. Horse sale. Visits to other breeding farms in South Iceland are available for groups.

A separate dining hall seating up to 180 people is located in the stables, ideal for special events such as horse shows, dining, dancing, singing and incentive activities e.g. teambuilding games and line-dancing.

From Selfoss: Leave Selfoss heading to Hella on road no. 1. Stay on for around  23 km. Turn left on road no. 281. Stay on for around 3 km, there you will find the farm Hestheimar.
 
From Hella: Leave Hella heading to Selfoss road no. 1. Stay on for 9 km. Turn right into road no. 281. Stay on for around 3 km where you will find the farm Hestheimar.
