Single and double/twin rooms with washbasin. Two shared bathrooms. Dining room/sitting room for guests. Also an apartment that sleeps four with two bedrooms (one double and one twin room, extra bed available) - a sitting room with a sofa bed, kitchen and bathroom.

Moorlands, glacial rivers and mossy lava fields

The farm Dalshöfði nestles under the moor’s edge about 5 km (3 mi) from the Ring Road. The moors and mountains by the town are an interesting hiking area. The glacial river Hverfisfljót, that grows quite a lot during the summer months, runs close by the town and a walk on its banks during summer is unforgettable. In the highlands north of Dalshöfið you will find the magical waterfall Lambhagafoss in the river Hverfisfljót, as well as many smaller rapids and waterfalls. Across from Dalshöfði, on the other side of the river, is Eldhraun, the eastern lava river from the 1783 Skaftáreldar eruption.

 
Dverghamrar, Fjaðrárgljúfur and Lakagígar

The drive west to Kirkjubæjarklaustur (25 km / 15.5 mi) is ideal and you can stop along the way at Dverghamrar, which are spectacular cliffs of columnar basalt. Many organised hikes depart from Kirkjubæjarklaustur during the summer season, that will take you to places like Fjaðrárgljúfur, a canyon close to the village. In the highlands you will find Lakagígar, a series of craters on a 25 km long (15.5 mi) fissure that erupted during the Skaftáreldar eruption of 1783 (60 km / 37 mi from Dalshöfði). Lakagígar are a unique natural phenomenon.

 
Skaftafell National Park and Jökulsárlón

Dalshöfði is 45 km (28 mi) east of Skaftafell via Skeiðarársandur, which is one of the more popular stopovers in the Vatnajökull National Parks. Skaftafell is an oasis of flora and full to the brim of interesting and varied nature such as sharp peaks and glaciers. Further 60 km on (37 mi) is Jökulsárlón, the glacial lagoon where giant glaciers that have broken off the nearby icefall slumber and melt into the lagoon. It is possible to explore the lagoon by boat in order to get to know this work of art up close.
