From Reykjahlíð village (by Lake Mývatn): Leave Reykjahlið on road no. 1 heading for Egilsstaðir.  Stay on road no. 1 for about 143 km and then you need to turn left into road no. 917.  After only about 8 km you find Svartiskógur on your left.

 

From Egilsstaðir: Leave Egilsstaðir on road no. 1, direction Akureyri/Lake Mývatn.  Stay on road no. 1 for 23 km and then you need to turn right into road no. 917. After only about 8 km you find Svartiskógur on your left.
