Stöng – a country hotel and farm in the quiet countryside

The farm Stöng is 13 km (8 mi) southwest of Mývatn, located in tranquil moorlands with beautiful views over prosperous pastures. It only takes about 30 minutes to hike up Sandfell (451 m / 1,480 ft.), where there’s a beautiful view over the countryside and south over the highlands. If conditions are clear, you might even see Bárðarbunga and glacier Hofsjökull. Stöng has been a farm since the mid-19th century and a guesthouse since 1982. All houses are heated with geothermal water from the farm’s own borehole. The farmers here keep cattle, sheep and chickens and you are more than welcome to get to know the farm, greet the cat and dog, and learn about life at an Icelandic farm.
