Fossatún is located on the banks of river Gímsá in Borgarfjörður.  Accommodation, campsite, restaurant, Troll Garden, excellent playground and recreation facilities for children and adults.

Troll-Garden: A hiking trail of the scene and place names of the story: The Last Troll, written by the host Steinar himself.

 

Restaurant is located by the waterfall, emphasis on homemade food. The restaurant seats up to 100 people, beautiful view over Troll’s Falls in Grímsá River and to the Skessuhorn mountain peak. Good conference and meeting facilities, access to internet and wireless internet -“hot spot”.

How to find?               

Fossatún is by road no. 50
 
From Reykjavík: Leave Reykjavík heading towards Akureyri on main ring road no. 1.  About 15 km after you leave Reykjavík you come to the village of Mosfellsbær and when you have passed it you need to continue some 20 km before you come to the Hvalfjörður tunnel (road toll ISK 1000,-) and after you have passed the tunnel you need to continue about 35 km before turning right into Borgarfjarðarbraut (road no. 50). Continue on road no. 50 for about 18 km and you find Fossatún on your left.

From Borgarnes: Leaving Borgarnes heading towards Reykjavík on main ring road no. 1.  As you leave Borgarnes you cross a bridge and right after the bridge you turn left into Borgarfjarðarbraut (road no. 50). Continue on road no. 50 for about 18 km and you find Fossatún on your left.
