How to find?
Stóra Vatnshorn is by road no. 586
From Stykkishólmur: you leave Stykkishólmur on road no. 58, heading for Grundafjörður and stay on it until its end and then turn left into road no. 54. Stay on road no 54 for about 67 km when you need to turn left into road no 60 (Vestfjarðarvegur). After only about 1 km you need to turn right into road no 586 and continue for about 5 km before you see Stóra-Vatnshorn farm on your left.
From Borgarnes: as you leave village Borgarnes, direction Akureyri on road no. 1 then you come to a traffic circle. Take the exit into road no 1 in direction of Akureyri. You need to drive for about 37 on raod no. 1 before turning left into road no 60 (Vestfjarðarvegur), stay on road no. 60 for about 35 km before you need to turn right into road no 586 and continue for about 5 km before you see Stóra-Vatnshorn farm on your left.
