Hraunsnef is a family-run country hotel located in a hilltop setting in West Iceland.

10 modern and spacious rooms with private facilities and TV. The rooms all have separate entries and are decorated differently with traditional Icelandic textiles. Also two unit cottages with kitchenette.

The hotel offers a homely and family-friendly atmosphere. Cosy restaurant and bar featuring fresh, locally and regionally sourced food and homemade Icelandic specialities such as lamb and skyr. The farmers at Hraunsnef grow their own vegetables and get eggs and pork from their free-range hens and pigs. A small farm shop is attached to the restaurant. There is also another separate dining/sitting/games room.

Two hot tubs fed directly from a natural hot spring are located next to a stream, offering beautiful mountain views.

Good facilities for children; playground and friendly farm animals including pigs, horses, dogs and chicken.

There are good walking trails in the area. Special guided elf-theme walks are on offer and a special Christmas package with the Hraunsnef family in December each year.

Hraunsnef is perfectly situated for day tours and sightseeing around West Iceland and the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Nearby places of interest include Grábrók volcanic crater, Glanni Waterfall, Lake Hreðavatn, Deildartunguhver hot spring, Hraunfossar and Barnafossar waterfalls, the Settlement Museum in Borgarnes, historic Reykholt and Víðgelmir lava cave.
