Fishing in Iceland

Many of our farms do offer a fishing permit for their guests, mainly in nearby lakes. Enjoy the outdoors by fishing in a lake or a river. Look for the fishing icon.
 
The fishing card (Veiðikortið) is a very economic choice for fisherman and travellers. With the card you can fish almost as much as you like in 35 lakes all around Iceland.

The Fishing card (Veiðikortið) is a very economic choice for fishermen The fishing card 2013and travellers.  With the card you can fish almost as much as you like in 35 lakes all around Iceland. At this map you can view all the 35 lakes around the country. Only a few lakes are open all year, but most of those stay open approx. between May 1st and  September 30th.

The Fishing card (Veiðikortið) package includes a brochure in Icelandic, but with basic information in English, with all general information regarding the lakes, maps and travel.  Full English translation is available here on this website, where you can print out the necessary information about each lake or the general use of the card. 
 
With the Fishing Card (Veiðikortið) you can fish as you like in 35 lakes around the country for only 43 €.  Enjoy Icelandic nature with easy access to lakes.   Kids under 14 yrs fish free with cardholder.  Manual  with maps, pictures and basic information in English about each lake, is included when you buy the Fishing Card.
 
The fishing card (Veiðikortið) is valid only for the current year.  
 
Please note that you must disinfect your fishing gear upon arrival to the country. There is a 24 hour disinfection service at Keflavik International Airport.  Price is  55- - 60-  US $ for each rod, including related accessories such as Waders, reels, flyboxes etc.  Contact the custom officers for this service.  You may have to wait for a few minutes.
